WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
PRELUDE “All Glory, Laud and Honor” arr. Cindy Berry
JOURNEY TO THE CROSS
*HYMN 88 (vss. 1 & 4) “All Glory, Laud, and Honor”
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
O Lord, we confess our hands are not clean, our hearts are not pure. Forgive our fickle discipleship and keep our faith constant, O Lord. Lead us always to a deeper experience of your love. Enliven us by the familiar but always new story of shame and triumph, suffering and hope, that this week reveals. Mold us to the ways of the Servant whose life we honor this morning…
Silent Prayers of confession
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
Hear the good news: “Jesus, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave...and became obedient to the point of death --even death on a cross.” (Philippians 6,7a,8b) Through his obedience, we are freed from whatever sin enslaves us.
Thanks be to God!

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
O God, as the scriptures are read, we will listen for your voice. By your Spirit lead us out of our fears and into the knowledge of your love, through Jesus Christ, the Great Shepherd of our souls. Amen.
SCRIPTURE LESSON: John 12: 12-16
12 The next day the great crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting,
“Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord— the King of Israel!”
14 Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it; as it is written:
15 “Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!”
16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written of him and had been done to him.
SERMON “He is King” Rev. Barrett Ingram
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his
only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the
third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right
hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the
dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* Church; the communion of saints; the
forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
*“catholic” (little c) is translated as “universal” and is not a reference to the Roman Catholic Church.
