People: Righteousness and justice are the

foundation of his throne.

Leader: The heavens proclaim his righteousness,

People: And all the peoples behold his glory.

*PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN 248          “Christ Is Risen! Shout Hosanna!”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O God, you are light, and in you there is no darkness at all.

We call ourselves children of light, but sometimes we act otherwise: we love ourselves more than others, we manipulate others to get our own way, and then pretend to be innocent. We deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Shine your light into our dark places. Bring the truth to our lips. In your faithfulness, receive our confession and forgive us…

Silent Prayers of Confession

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

Hear the good news: “If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” ....and ... if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 1:9,2:1b,2)

Thanks be to God!

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH        The Apostles’ Creed         pg. 35

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
