PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty God, in whom we live and move and have our being, thou hast made us for thyself so that our hearts are restless until they find rest in thee. Mercifully forgive us of our sins. Grant us purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing thy will, no weakness from doing it. In thy light may we see light, and in thy service find perfect freedom…

Silent Prayers of confession

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

“...God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us,” and God’s love for us is demonstrated in this: “...while we still were sinners Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:5,8) The good news therefore is this: in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

Thanks be to God!

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
