WELCOME AND CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION
PRELUDE “For He Satisfieth the Longing Soul”
*CALL TO WORSHIP – from Psalm 81
Leader: Sing aloud to God our strength!
Shout for joy to the God of Jacob!
People: Raise a song.
Sound the tambourine.
Play sweet music with the harp.
Leader: Hear, O my people, while I admonish you.
If you would but listen to me!
People: There shall be no strange god among you.
You shall not bow down to a foreign god.
Leader: I am the Lord your God.
Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.
People: I would feed you with the finest of the wheat,
and with honey from the rock
I would satisfy you.
*PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN 81 “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken”
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful God, in Jesus you show us a way that is humble
and that seeks the good of others. We confess that we go our own way; we elevate ourselves and ignore the needs of others. Free us from the temptation to pursue our own pleasure only. Help us to live in harmony with all your people, sharing one world and eating around one table,
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior…
Silent Prayers of confession
WORDS OF ASSURANCE
Hear the good news! Who is in a position to condemn? Only Christ, and Christ died for us, Christ rose for us, Christ reigns in power for us, Christ prays for us. (Romans 8:34) Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation. The old life has gone; a new life has begun. (II Corinthians 5:17)
Leader: Friends, believe the good news.
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed Page 35
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
