*PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN 645 “Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty and merciful God, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done. O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare those who confess their faults. Restore those who repent, according to your promises declared to the world in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O merciful God, for his sake, that we may live a holy, just, and humble life for the glory of your holy name…

Silent Prayers of confession

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; behold, everything has become new! All this is from God to whom we have been reconciled by Christ. (2 Corinthians 5: 17, 18)

Rejoice then, for we are known, accepted, loved and forgiven.

Thanks be to God!

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH From “A Brief Statement of Faith”

We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere the giver and renewer of life. The Spirit justifies us by grace through faith, sets us free to accept ourselves and to love God and neighbor, and binds us together with all believers in the one body of Christ, the Church. The same Spirit who inspired the prophets and apostles rules our faith and life in Christ through Scripture, engages us through the Word proclaimed, claims us in the waters of baptism, feeds us with the bread of life and the cup of salvation, and calls women and men to all ministries of the church. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
