*CALL TO WORSHIP – from Psalm 100

Leader:        Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!

People:      Serve the LORD with gladness!

Come into his presence with singing!

Leader:        Know that the LORD, he is God!

People:       It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Leader:        Enter his gates with thanksgiving,

and his courts with praise!

People:      Give thanks to him; bless his name!

All:              For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

*PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN 761          “Called as Partners in Christ’s Service”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

In confidence of your goodness and great mercy, O Lord, I draw near unto You, as one sick to the healer, as one hungry and thirsty to the fountain of life, a creature to the Creator, a needy soul to my only true comfort. Behold, in You is all that I can or ought to desire. You are my salvation and my redemption, my help and my strength. Cleanse and make glad therefore this day of Your servant, for unto You, O Lord, have I lifted up my soul…

Silent Prayers of confession

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

The good news is that even if we at first do not hear the divine word addressed to us, God calls again and again.  When our words and actions separate us from God, we are assured that if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!  All this is from God to whom we have been reconciled by Christ.

Thanks be to God!

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
