*CALL TO WORSHIP from Ps. 80:7-15

One: Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that

       we may be saved!

All: You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the

   nations and planted it.

One: You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and

filled the land.

All: The mountains were covered with its shade, the

  mighty cedars with its branches.

One: Why did you break down its walls so that all who

pass by pluck its fruit?

All: The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in

  the field feed on it.

One: Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from  

     heaven and see.

People: Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved! Let us worship the

God who revives and redeems us.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, sin has stained and scarred us and has become so familiar to us.  We have worshiped you with our lips, but not with our hearts.  We have followed you with our words, but not with our lives.  We have developed habits of convenience; our ways have become well-worn.  Forgive us.  Make us new.  Start afresh with us, so that we might go in the way of Jesus Christ… 

Silent Prayers of Confession

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS     

The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

May the God of mercy, who forgives us all our sins, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life.  Amen.
