SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER

*HYMN 65    Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of great mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you.  We are quick to quarrel and condemn and slow to receive your gift of grace. We boast about our own success and deny our suffering Savior.  Forgive us, by your steadfast love. Create a clean heart within us, teach us your holy way, and restore the joy of salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord…

Silent Prayers of confession

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

Because of God’s great love for us, we have peace with God and access to God’s grace all through Jesus Christ who, while we were still sinners, died to free us from the bondage of sin. Therefore, we may ask of Christ to give us the living water that quenches the dryness of our souls.  In this we know we are forgiven.

Thanks be to God!
