WELCOME AND CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION

PRELUDE        “Children of the Heavenly Father”      Dan Forrest

*CALL TO WORSHIP – from Psalm 84

How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!

My soul longs, indeed, it faints for the courts of the Lord;

my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Even the sparrow finds a home,

and the swallow a nest for herself,

where she may lay her young, before you, O Lord of hosts.

Happy are those who live in your house,

ever singing your praise

For one day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.

*PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN 14            For the Beauty of the Earth

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Almighty God,

long-suffering and of great goodness:

we confess to you

our neglect and forgetfulness of your commandments,

our wrong doing, thinking, and speaking;

the hurts we have done to others,

and the good we have left undone.

O God, forgive us, for we have sinned against you;

and raise us to newness of life;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Silent Prayers of Confession

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

As the Apostle Paul wrote: “...if you confess with your lips that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)These words contain the good news that in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

Thanks be to God!

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH        The Apostles’ Creed         pg. 35

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
