WELCOME AND CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION
PRELUDE “Lobe den Herren” Charles Callahan
*CALL TO WORSHIP – based on Psalm 139
Leader: O Lord, you have searched me and known me,
and are acquainted with all my ways.
People: Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord,
you know it completely.
Leader: For it was you who formed my inward parts;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
People: How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God!
I try to count them—they are like the sand.
*PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN 839 Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine!
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, your face is hidden from us by our sins, and we forget your mercy in the blindness of our hearts. Cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires. With lowliness and meekness may we draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son…
Silent Prayers of Confession
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
When we were dead in our trespasses, God made us alive by forgiving all our trespasses - erasing the record that stood against us...by nailing it to the cross. (Colossians 2:13,14) The good news therefore is this: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
