WELCOME AND CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION
PRELUDE “There Is a Balm in Gilead” Sam Batt Owens
*CALL TO WORSHIP -- based on Psalm 79: 1-9
O Lord, you are the God of our salvation.
We have no hope without you:
Hear us when we call to you.
O Lord, you are the compassionate God
who cared for our ancestors and our parents:
Come now to us to save us, we pray.
O Lord, you are the Changeless God
whom we honor and revere:
We come this day to worship you, O God,
because we trust in your merciful grace.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, your face is hidden from us by our sins, and we forget your mercy in the blindness of our hearts. Cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires. With lowliness and meekness may we draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son…
Silent Prayers of Confession
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Those who believe in him are not condemned. (John 3: 17, 18a)
The good news therefore is this: in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
