SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER
*HYMN 620 Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, we have sought security in shelters of our own making. Instead of trusting your Word, we have relied upon our own will to overcome evil within and around us. Our will has not been strong enough; when tempted, we have fallen. Forgive us for turning away from the sustaining Bread you have so generously provided us. Indwell us by your Spirit, that we would entrust ourselves wholly to the power of your saving Word, Jesus Christ, our Lord…
Silent Prayers of Confession
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
As the Apostle Paul wrote: “...if you confess with your lips that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) These words contain the good news that in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
