*CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 139

Leader:  Lord, you have searched me, and you know me;

  you know my sitting down and my rising up.

People: You discern my thoughts from afar,

  and you are acquainted with all my ways.

Leader:  There is not a word that comes to my lips but that you,

  O Lord, know it altogether.

People: Knowledge like yours is too wonderful to me,

  and so I give you thanks and praise.

*PRAYER OF THE DAY

*HYMN 39            “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Lord of us all, you have called us to serve you cheerfully, and to follow you faithfully.  But we have turned a deaf ear to your call; we have been so occupied with our own concerns that we have not stopped to listen for you.  Forgive us for insisting upon our own way, when you have called us to a better way.  By your Spirit, give us the minds and hearts of true disciples.  Be glorified in our glad obedience to your call, as we walk in free submission to your will, according to the pattern of our Lord, Jesus Christ...

Silent Prayers of confession

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

All the prophets testify about Christ that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. (Acts 10:43)

The good news therefore is this: in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

Thanks be to God!

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
