WELCOME AND CONCERNS OF THE CONGREGATION
PRELUDE “Aria” Craig Phillip
*SERVICE OF THE LENTEN CANDLES – from Psalm 32
Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven,
and whose sin is put away!
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” Then you forgave me the guilt of my sin.
Therefore, all the faithful will make their
prayers to you in times of trouble.
Happy are those whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sin is put away.
*PRAYER OF THE DAY
*HYMN 41 O Worship the King, All Glorious Above
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of mercy, you sent Jesus Christ to seek and save the lost. We confess that we have strayed from you; we have turned aside to go our own way. We are misled by our pride – we see ourselves pure when we are stained, and great when we are small. We have failed in love, neglected justice, and ignored your truth. Have mercy, O God, and forgive our sin. Sanctify us by your Spirit, that we may walk in paths of righteousness for your holy name’s sake….
Silent Prayers of Confession
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9
Hear then Christ’s word of grace to us: Our sins are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
*RESPONSE OF PRAISE “What Wondrous Love” Hymn 215
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, that caused the Lord of bliss,
to bear the heavy cross for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the heavy cross for my soul!
