PRELUDE “It Is Well With My Soul” Craig Phillips
SERVICE FOR THE LENTEN CANDLES – from Psalm 95:2, 3, 7
With thankful hearts, let us worship God.
He is the greatest over all.
We are the people of God.
So we need to listen to him.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of great mercy, we confess that we have sinned against you. We are quick to quarrel and condemn and slow to receive your gift of grace. We boast about our own success and deny our suffering Savior. Forgive us, by your steadfast love. Create a clean heart within us, teach us your holy way, and restore the joy of salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord…
Silent Prayers of Confession
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS – based on Romans 5 & John 4
Because of God’s great love for us, we have peace with God and access to God’s grace through Jesus Christ who, while we were still sinners, died to free us from the bondage of sin. Therefore, we may ask of Christ to give us the living water that quenches the dryness of our souls. In this we know that we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
*RESPONSE OF PRAISE “What Wondrous Love” Hymn 215
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
What wondrous love is this, O my soul!
What wondrous love is this, that caused the Lord of bliss,
to bear the heavy cross for my soul, for my soul,
to bear the heavy cross for my soul!
